Graphic Novel Assignment: Shopaholics
Shopaholics
Summary:
Katie and Laura are college students who love to shop for clothes. One day they take a trip to the mall to go shopping. They go way overboard on spending. They continually justify their purchases with silly things like, “It matches the shoes I have perfectly” or “I need it for this occasion”. Soon they find that their bank accounts are completely drained from their little shopping spree, and very much regret their spending.
*Katie and Laura enter a store with loads of shopping bags on their arms. They are looking at more clothing on the wracks. Katie picks out a purple chiffon dress.
Katie: “LOOK. AT. THIS. DRESS! I’ve got to try it on. It is exactly what I need for my date Thursday night.”
Laura: “Oh, Katie! You have to try it on. It’s the perfect color.”
Katie: “I KNOW!!!”
*Katie goes to try on the dress and comes out with it on.
Katie: “I have to have it!”
*Katie changes back, while Laura is eyeing a pair of blue, platform heals. She turns the shoe over and sees a sales sticker.
Laura: “JACKPOT!”
Katie: “Those are killer!”
Laura: “These will match the dress I bought earlier PERFECTLY!!!”
*As they went around the store, they accumulated even more items slung over their arms that they had to have. They head to the cash register with all their “must-haves”. The cashier rings up Laura’s items.
Cashier: “That will be $270.80.”
*Laura’s jaw drops, but she hands over her card.
*The other cashier rings up Katie’s items.
Cashier: “That will be $386.04.”
*Katie gasps, but hands over her card as well.
Katie: “Oh no…”
